It's time for the Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council's annual fall fundraising event and like everything else this year, it's going to be a little different!

This year's event - Palettes and Prohibition: A Night at the Speakeasy - will be held online which opens up a world of opportunity for greater exposure, creativity and - best of all - more ways for artists to promote themselves.

This year, artists:

  • Earn a 20% commission

  • Can promote themselves and their work with links in auction listings, promotional videos on social media and the auction website and more.

  • Are free to create. We can provide a 12x12 wooden panel for your Prohibition-themed creation or you can turn in a 20x20 canvas or 3-foot sculpture - the creative possibilities are endless. We can even auction off mural commissions, art classes and other experiences. This year is the 100th anniversary of Prohibition - let's get creative and celebrate.

Important dates:

  • Oct. 1 - art is due. Completed pieces can be dropped off at Lilly & Gert's, 124 W. 2nd st., Port Clinton, or call a committee member below and we can arrange a pickup.

  • Oct. 8 - Auction goes live. Artists are encouraged to share links on social media and promote their pieces. We will also be doing live videos before and during this week to increase exposure.

  • Oct. 15 - Auction comes to an end.

Pieces done in advance of Oct. 1 are appreciated and may be used for marketing. Please provide with it a short bio, a description of your piece, a suggested minimum price and a link to your personal art page or other portfolio to be listed with your piece/s.

If you know anyone else who would be interested, please pass the information along. We are always happy to bring new artists aboard!

A majority of proceeds from this event go to funding the services and programs we provide throughout the year, including public art purchases, mural work, commissions and public events. We are also very excited about our newest undertaking - converting the Old City Garag Guilding on West Perry Street into a Cultural Arts Center.

Watch for more information on the event here or on our Facebook page. Don't hesitate to contact any of our committee members with questions:
