Copying is serious form of flattery...

One of my favorite books is Steal Like An Artist by Austin Kleon. In it he says, "Great artists, scientists, entrepreneurs, and anyone else who has done successful creative work understands that nothing comes from nowhere. Everything builds on what came before, and every new idea is just a mashup or remix of one or more previous ideas. Nothing is completely original."

Hence "The Corona Virus Challenge" that we are picking up and mutating into GPCAAC's Viral Art Exhibit. Since we're stuck at home self distancing why not use the time to create?

Here's a quick overview of what we're doing:

Anyone and everyone who's a maker/creator can submit their art.

All forms of artwork are acceptable: painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture, jewelry, poetry, quilting, etc.

The only rule we have is: the art must be your own creation, done by your own hand. If your work was inspired by someone else's work - pay homage to that artist but putting that artists' name in your title. For instance: "Homage to Andre Derain's The Dance."

You may post your entries to our facebook page - Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council.

By posting your artwork you are giving GPCAAC the right to share on our website.

If you choose not to share your work online, that's your choice. Simply tell us about your experience if you would please. Know that we are happy that our Viral Art Exhibit has inspired you!

Thank you to the Dublin Art League's Corona Art Challenge for inviting us to their Corona Virus Challenge.
