Prentice on display at Magruder Healing Wall!

The works of TAG resident artist Susan Prentice are now on display at the Healing Wall in Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton, Ohio.

The Healing Wall is a rotating exhibit of artists from around Ottawa County and began more than nine years ago as a collaboration between the Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council and the hospital.

The idea is the Healing Wall, which is located in the outpatient wing hallway, can give a few moments of peace through the stress of a hospital visit.

Magruder Hospital is located at 615 Fulton St. Port Clinton, OH 43452.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Susan Prentice is one of more than 20 resident artists with working space in the Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council’s The Arts Garage (TAG).

Susan has worked as an x-ray technician, in addiction services, with Detox in Erie County, as a chiropractic office manager, and helped set up Genesis by the Lake in Vermilion – a 32-bed facility for women in recovery and their children could live in sobriety.

Prentice turned to advocacy as well as art to heal after the unexpected death of her son Christopher in 2013.

“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time,” Prentice said.

Besides photography, Susan also dabbles in painting, which are also on display at the Healing Wall. She said that she’s learned that art, in multiple forms, is an outlet for her.

“Being behind the lens allows me to see things differently,” she said.

Prentice’s work is on display from mid-March until the end of April 2023.

All of Prentice’s photography and acrylic paintings on display are for sale.

To purchase a piece from the Healing Wall, please contact Magruder Hospital’s administrative director of marketing and public relations Lis Brand at 419-734-3131 ext.3145.
