“Evening out with Art” to feature Keith Fleming, Folk Art
The Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council is proud to announce its June “Evening Out with Art” artists series featuring Port Clinton native and artist Keith Fleming.
Join Fleming on Monday June 12 at 6pm at The Arts Garage (TAG) for this FREE evening discussing folk art and how it has influenced Fleming’s creative process.
Fleming will answer questions such as:
· What is folk art or traditional art?
· What does folk art mean?
· What is folk art known for?
· What defines American folk art?
He will also bring samples from his past shows, and explain what his work means and how he creates from the many items he has collected.
Keith was born in Port Clinton, and after graduating from Port Clinton High School in 1976, he attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, in Pittsburgh, PA, from 1976-1979.
While there he earned an Associate's Degree in Specialized Technology (Fashion Illustration.)
Tuesday June 13– 10am – Tie-Dye class for students led by Diane Chaplin. Class is FREE for Ottawa County students, and just $5 for non-residents. Sign up on our website.
Then at 2pm, there is another kids pottery class with Jeanette Oleksa. Cost is just $25 per student and they will be making fish plaques/plates. Sign up at www.gpcaac.org under “Classes.”
Stop by The Arts Garage (TAG) to check out our latest exhibit, “Best Foot Forward” featuring the works of Rick Dziak, OPA. This incredible collection contains many pieces from private collections and is not to be missed.
The Arts Garage, home of the Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council, is located in the city’s old maintenance garage at 317 W. Perry Street in Port Clinton.
TAG is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11am until 4pm. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
